How is Rt 7? - February 7, 2010, 07:52 PM

So I'm debating on weather or not to go in to work tomorrow (from Charles Town to Herndon) has anyone been on Rt 7 lately? Especially around the Leesburg area, that could tell me what conditions the roads are in?

Thanks everyone!

7 is in surprisingly good shape. The fast lane actually has a bunch of spots where you can see the asphalt.

Fast lane = cars putting along getting in my way. So I end up cruising along in whatever lane isn't blocked and pass them all. I've gone between Leesburg and Sterling several times today.

Most all emergency equipment in Jeff Co, had to be pulled out by N/Guard humvees.
Just think we have another 6"+ coming Tues/Wed.

The drive wasn't too bad....most of 7 still has snow on it that has been packed down, but like Turk said the fast lanes were done first and kind of clear except in spots.

I would suggest not driving in if you don't have to. The only reason I did was because I'm speculating having to take Tus and/or Wed off because of the comming snow.

Godfather, my wife's cousin (ex P.O. in Jefferson and now Fed, you prob know him Billy C.) did some plowing. Got his truck struck and had to get his tractor out to pull the truck out. Ended up getting the tractor stuck too...but finally got both out with an even larger tractor.

Chris....were you looking at that one old Stone farm house on Lloyd Rd.? I eyed it myself. It is charming but didn't think it would be too practical. There is actually good chunks of land out that way...took a look at 11 acres the other day in Rippon, pretty nice. We are also eyeing a foreclosure in town, but having to give up my land in the country will be hard.

And it will only get worse if it melts just a bit then re-freezes. My guess is this week will all be one big cluster F.

My dad lives in Shannondale...be prepared to have a hard time getting out in bad conditons, other than that it's nice. I don't know if you know this but if you drive all the way to the back of Mission Rd. there is a small man-made lake. The developer was selling of 3-5 acre parcels. My wife and I looked at it...really nice and secluded. The only reason we didn't go for it is because we wanted to keep our kids in the same school distict they are in now. From what I heard the land went into foreclosure and were going for a decent price. I think at one time the land could be viewed by searching Harpers Ferry land listing on realtor.com. Haven't checked in a while.

i look on Redfin.com. really easy interface to use. Ive checked out that new community that he's building, but i dont like the layout. I like Shannondale, but its not ideal for bikes. Im waiting for Falcon ridge to open up
