I am trying to start a web business? - March 26, 2007, 09:47 PM

I have been working on a Dating Site for some time now. As you can see in my Sig.

I am needing help in that I need people to put profiles out on my site. I am giving free profiles with all the features to test my site and get advice back. I am not a guru at programing php so please it will take time to make changes to the site if you submit changes.

Please help.

Chris

Itís a dating site not an escort service. If you need an escort service I hear that there is one in D.C. that offers discreet social interaction and they will only publish your number once. Ok maybe twice. Depends on which news station you listen to. Or if you need a bag of chips I am sure I can pick one up at the store for ya.

Seriously, I was trying to keep it for people who are interested in meeting people with a relationship in mind. I have lots of things planned for this site and if I have enough of a customer base then I can start implementing them. If it does not then I can always sell the site. I have already had offers for just what I have done so far but I would like to get it really working well and have fun with it though.

Is it 1995?

no offense but being in IT like most here will tell you, starting a dating service this late in the game seems likely to fail.

Not saying you cant do it, but it isnt something I think you can make some $$ doing.

Well actually what I was trying to do was start this part of it and add services like a resteraunt guide and other ideas that the others do not have to make it different. I know there is a slim chance of it really making the money I would desire it to make but if I do not give it a try then I will always wonder. I understand where you are coming from Spud it may be a little out dated but you never know what will happen. I have been working on this off and on for three years and I would like to see it succeed.

match and myspace will always rule you.

if you look at the cost - the time invested in it just is not worth it.

good luck.

FYI other dating sites are sponsored by local restaurants, so if there is a match between a couple.. bam local adds for restaurants start showing on the page..

Now, if you start a thread on suggestions for creating a website for dating that isnt already out there, you might get further.

Just a suggestion.

Here's a feature I think all the dating sites lack that I think would be a great feature:

Let people comment on profiles and on people. But only let same sex people view the comments. So, if "Guy A" talks/see's to "Girl A", he can leave a comment about "Girl A". Like "She's a crazy psycho." Then any future "Guy A...Z" will see that comment. The same applies for girls and their ability to leave comments on profiles.

Holy shit that's a good friggin idea!

Except maybe I'd start a fake female page... and check my comments... but really good idea, nonetheless

That and it's going to be tough to compete with this dating site, at least locally!

Ha. Does the site have a good success rate though? All I keep seeing is girls being warned of the leg humpers.
