the sickest move on a mountain bike today! Not bragging because it was really an accident – I don’t have the skillz to be doing it on purpose.

At lunchtime I went to Difficult Run trail for a quick blast around Lake Fairfax Park. First time the trail has been totally dry since I can remember.

There’s a long fast downhill that has a few technical spots near the bottom. I pedal hard at first, getting up to top gear and then stay off the brakes all the way to the last 30 yards to take a few dabs (of brake) between rocks & ruts, then brake pretty hard at the bottom to take the turn and creek crossing.

Well this time I didn’t use any brakes until the last 10 yards and was still HARD on the (disc) brakes while in the turn. The back wheel came up in the air and started coming around. I feathered it down STILL hard on the brakes, let off and rolled through the creek crossing.

It actually tightened my line and let me roll through the creek faster. It felt (and probably looked) smooth like I’d been practicing it. Again, not bragging here, just letting out a Tarzan yell ‘cause that felt GOOD!!

That sounds just plain hot. I assume mechanical disks so you can get some feedback?

My Paragon is sitting in the corner gathering dust. I haven't even SEEN difficult run. I'm so dismayed that there isn't any riding around here like in Harrisonburg (GW forrest)... but then again what do you expect. I suppose I should check out DRun.

Where do you drop in?

Jim, PM me if you want to ride sometime..I haven't done any serious biking/racing in years but that sounds like fun! Let me know if you want to ride sometime! Hopefully, this frame will hold up...cracked every single other frame I've had in races but I hope we won't be doing any riding at those levels...

I drop in to DR at Faraday & Sunset Hills. It takes 5-7 min to get there from work.

Yes mechanical discs. Lamely named an “Iron Horse” (especially since it’s aluminum) it’s your basic $500 POS hardtail. It’s amazing what you can get for the money at bicycle shops these days.

Yeah Fountain Head is on the to do list!!

Chris I’m a seriously out of shape old dood right now. Give me a couple of months to get some wind and legs. I’d love to learn from you!

Hit me up man, I haven't ridden in years so I'm out of shape as well. Just give me a heads up when you want to ride...I'm sure you'll be showing me a thing or two on the trails! I'm an old wuss these days! Sounds like you ride the sh*t out of anything on two wheels though!
