I need my shoulder looked at... - November 6, 2009, 02:00 AM

Hi guys . I recently have been feeling pain and been losing range of motion on my shoulder and want to have it looked at by a orthopedic.
Do you know of a good orthopedic ? If so please list their information .
Also I no longer have insurance , does anyone know how much I should expect to pay for a first visit ?
Thanks

If it is your muscle, you may want to check out a physical therapist. Dr. Tucky in Frederick, MD fixed my back and neck up pretty fast. He did some accupressure and had me do a series of stretches at home. Not sure what the rate would be without insurance.

Good luck!

Dr. Raymond Thal, Dr. Mark Madden are knee and shoulder specialists. It's going to be expensive if you want to see any orthopaedic surgeon. First step is to see the surgeon, only the doctor can perscribe you physical therapy.

DO NOT go into a physical therapy office and ask them for their advice. They can not give it...I know. I worked in PT.

try some light stretching a stengthening exercises first before wasting money

Theres a lot of exercise band moves to help strengthen your muscles there to help. I had problems with my shoulder socket being stretched and shoulder popping out and did these exercises and have not had a problem

The loss of range of motion is concerning. Do an anti-inflammatory regiment, heat and light stretching.

Dr. Thal did my knee surgery...went good but it still locks up after a long ride or driving in the car for more than 30 mins.

start stretching now!!, you brobably need physical therapy. if physical therapy wont fix it u need a surgery. that surgery is one f**ing painful surgery.

Is there anything that caused the pain? Accident? Have you had any other problems in that area?

One thing that is often overlooked by patients AND doctors is Lyme Disease. Symptoms include and often start with joint pain. So if you have been bitten by a tick or spent time in areas with ticks, ask for them to test you. The effects of having it and not treating it are extreme.

I think its more then a muscle probelm really . Might be a tear of some kind possibly from regular heavy lifting so a couple of guys from the gym who had similer problems recommanded going to a orthopidic first.
Thanks for the advice ....
