I need some IT HELP!!! (Can't access a site) - May 1, 2008, 09:51 PM

I have 2-3 machines at home.
1 desktop
at times my work laptop
and gf's laptop.

for some odd reason I can't access www.r1-forum.com from either IE or Mozilla.
I can ping it by name and IP address. I can't tracert it at all.
I checked my router settings and can't find anything wrong. IMO I am blaming it on the router that Comcast gave me. If I use my work pc and connect via VPN then try to access R1 forum, I can get in. I hook up my aircard I can get in. I was getting ready to blow up on the tech/router guy on the phone with comcast. He kept on saying my computer's security level. He even told me to email the site admin and check if his site is working. He even asked me if I could access it at work, when I told him I could access it at work, vpn, aircard, blackberry.

Any help would be appreciated... I even tried a static IP address. If I try using the IP address in the URL, it does the same thing below. I don't get any errors, when I type in www.r1-forum.com I get the following back after it times out:

This has happened to me before. It went away so I never bothered with the cause.

Just some random thoughts, you can try deleting your browser cache, disable any firewalls (windows, norton etc), or (reaching way back here so I may be wrong) renew your dns registration via command prompt ("ipconfig /registerdns" -I think).

That's all I got... but I haven't done this sort of work in forever.

Most likely the problem is upstream of you anyhow, and it'll sort itself out.

if its only that one site, id say its local to the site. Could be whatever host R1-Forum is using, or the google ads are fuckin up

Sounds like a DNS issue somewhere

Unplug the router and hold the reset button for 10 secs. If there's a filter on it, that will clear it out. Also, clear the cache/cookies, too.

...and just remember, it's always comcast's fault.

I've unplugged the router, disable all my settings. Remember its happening to any pc that is on my network.

IMO it was the DNS, I've cleaned all my cookies, history, checked my HOST file, etc....

I work in the IT field also lol.

I even tried up, down, left, right, A, B

Look like your DNS dont have an IP listing for the website.
