I Would Like To Say That USB 3.0 Is The Shiznit! - November 26, 2010, 07:58 PM

Picked up a USB 3.0, 2TB Seagate External on BF Special at Best Buy for $90 as well as a 3.0 adapter card since my laptop doesn't have one.

Seagate - FreeAgent GoFlex Desk 2TB External USB 2.0/3.0 Hard Drive - Black - STAC2000103

I have an older 500GB and 250GB external I wanted to move out of since both were near max capacity.

I daisy chained the older two through my laptop and into the new 2TB drive - and short of having it hooked to an SSD - the transfer speeds on 3.0 are fantastic.

I'm getting roughly a 1GB of transfer every 15-18 seconds even though the speed is only 5900rpm. No write errors either.

Also, the SG's base can accept any 2.5 or 3.5 internal drive. Just pop of the external to expose the SATA connector and plop the internal drive on it. Instant 3.0 connectivity.

Startech. Radioshack or Wal-Mart should have it. Or they can have it shipped.
