If you ever ride in DC here's your chance to speak up - July 28, 2013, 07:17 PM

Motorcycle Feedback Questionaire - survey closes at midnight 17 Aug 2013

Survey on dangers, conditions and asking for suggestions on making the ride safer. Doesn't matter if you live in DC, just if you ever ride there.

I suggested including safe behavior around motorcycles in the driver's ed and legalizing filtering/lane splitting with a publicity campaign to make cagers aware of it.

Also there's an optional drawing for one of three $100 gift cards.

Must be a ton of people on it. The site is slow as frack.

It is also buggy as hell. They must have only sprung for a first year programming student to write it.

6 run time errors later, It's completed. Couldn't get by the "Have you ever crashed in D.C." page for a while.

Site's poorly executed and the questions leave something to be desired - but it takes a minute to fill out

It finally worked smoothly my 7th or 8th time.

I also crashed on the crash page.

"Make it explicitly legal to filter (lane split) in DC at safe speeds. I've been almost rear-ended quite a few times. Allowing bicycles, motorcycles, and scooters to filter through slow traffic reduces congestion and encourages people to ride a two-wheeler. If more people were on two wheels the parking situation in DC would also be partially alleviated."

Completed it. It was a little buggy on me, but never crashed all the way.

I don't really ride in DC anymore, but completed it for how it was last year... throwing a wild guess out there- things haven't changed too much since.

Also added a little note requesting them to encourage lane splitting.

The best way to stay safe while riding in DC is to ride somewhere other than DC

I never get on the freeway in DC... ever. The worst area, for me, is the NE. People up there just don't pay attention to their surroundings. I feel safest in downtown actually. People tend to be more likely to have their head on a swivel and not up their ass. I filter through downtown DC traffic during rush-hour regularly, never had a single problem from cars with DC or VA plates (NOT INCLUDING TAXIS). MD cars tend to be more reckless and oblivious.
