If you like Audi..Read - June 20, 2008, 03:05 PM

I got some sort of invite from Audi in the mail the other day and I just got to reading it now. Anyway it's for an Audi drive event at Summit Point, quite frankly it sounds like an amazing time and within 10 min of reading the invite I went and registered. There are two programs you can register for, one is free and one you have to pay. I'm not sure why they even gave me a "speacial" rsvp code since you can register for both without a code. Anyway here are the details, i'll just copy paste for those who don't feel like being redirected to another site.

Two-Hour Introductory Program (Free)
Be one of the first people in the country to preview and drive the all new Audi A4. You will drive the 2009 A4 and its competitors to experience Truth In Engineering for yourself. After sampling the competition, you then head out onto the racetrack in the A4.

In this course you will:
  • Drive the all new 2009 Audi A4
  • Sample the competition
  • Improve your driving skills
  • Understand quattro and why it gives Audi a handling advantage
  • Experience Audi drive select, a revolutionary handling enhancement only available on the 2009 Audi A4
  • Drive the 2009 Audi A4 on the race track
  • Sample a variety of Audi models
1/2 Day Enthusiast Program: $595 (<--Really excited about this one!!)
This program is designed for the enthusiast by putting you behind the wheel of some of the most exciting cars in the world. We address the fundamentals of driving and lap the track in the Audi R8 and S5. While participants will experience a variety of Audi vehicles in the fundamental exercises (TT, A4, A6 Q7), they will lap the track in Audi's most extreme performance vehicles. Instruction is by professional racing drivers.

In this course you will:
  • Acquire an improved understanding of vehicle handling
  • Practice braking and accident avoidance techniques
  • Learn where to look in an emergency situation
  • Controlling a skid
  • Understand quattro and why it gives Audi a handling advantage
  • Understand vehicle capabilities and limits
  • Spend more time on the track (2 sessions)
  • Drive the RS 4 on the track
  • Drive the R8 on the track
Anyhoo I'm signed up for the August 9th free program at the 9 or 9:30 session. Let me know you're going, would be fun to have a little competition and compare lap times. oh yeah space is filling up quick so get on it. go here to register
www.audidrivingexperience.com then find the button that says "register for the tour"

so for the free program it says this:
"Drivers drive a variety of Audi vehicles including the TT, A4, and Q7 on a number of tracks designed to improve your fundamental driving skills. These tracks include braking, skid control, handling and accident avoidance. Once these fundamentals are established, drivers will lap the road course at the speedway. The most improved driver will get a ride in the R8 on the racetrack."

so the key is to completely suck it up in the beginning and then just blow them away by how much you've "improved" when you actually try

Yeah, I read that. I am +3 for the same slot. Gonna be a blast. I have done drives like this a few times. BMW, Range Rover, Mercedes, Mazda... at Fed Ex field parking lot.

in my mailing it mentions something about everyone who participates is eligible to compete in something called the "Audi Record the Rush Challenge" where you can win a 2 year lease on a 2008 rs4 sedan. not sure what that's about
