Inexpensive Bed & Breakfasts Around The World - April 2, 2012, 10:01 PM

Bumped into this site while I was scoping out rooms for an upcoming trip.

Traveling to another town or city for a few days on your own dime and don't want to spend on a hotel room and the ridiculous hospitality taxes that come along with.

Consider this site where owners list their private rooms/residences for daily or weekly rental.

Airbnb Search

Yes, there's a couple of these sites now, and no clear market leader.

I wouldn't call these "bed and breakfasts". They're more like normal apartments people are trying to rent out.

Quality is all over the place. When I was searching around in cities I'm familiar with, I spotted group houses and hostels but they did not disclose that info. They made it seem as if they are a popular house just renting rooms. It's not just people renting out their apartments.

Whether to use airbnb/similar really depends on where you're going. Many places in the world have super competitive hotel options and deals.
