Post Inmates come to guard's aid in jail attack - November 4, 2009, 10:32 PM

http://us.cnn.com/video/?/video/crim...se.attack.wfts

(CNN) -- Hillsborough County, Florida, Deputy Kenneth Moon was alone at his station at a county jail facility near Tampa when an inmate attacked him with no warning.
Moon, 64, was no match for Douglas Burden, 24, in custody on various drug charges. With Moon still in his chair, Burden put him in a choke hold and pulled tight.
And then, surveillance video of the Monday attack showed, other inmates jumped into the fray.
But the other inmates joined the fight on the guard's side, pulling Burden away from Moon and punching him in the head. One inmate grabbed Moon's radio and called for back-up. The inmates held Burden down until other guards arrived as one of them extended a hand to help Moon up, according to the video.

Col. James Previtera, commander of Hillsborough County's Department of Detention Services, told reporters he believed that the inmates "saved the deputy's life."
"The response of the inmates in this case, I think, speaks volumes as to the fact that we treat these men and women ... in our facilities with a lot of respect," Previtera said.
Previtera said that Burden was moved to administrative confinement after the attack and that Moon was not seriously hurt.

Damn!

Nah, those inmates knew the time, that's why they jumped in to help.

Had the guard been seriously hurt, they all would have been placed on lock-in and the entire unit locked down for at least a week.

No commissary, no visits, no phone calls, no rec time, no TV.

That's the way it works in prison. One person screws up, everyone on your cell block pays.

Even prisoners have standards and morals.... Kid touchers and rapists get shanked no problem, scum of the earth in there. Also like the article said, the guards who treat the prisoners like crap are usually the ones who get smacked up. In this case it seems like this guard was one of the "good ones" and the prisoners felt like helping him out.

SHIT the inmates knew that if that guard was killed their drug supply would run out! They were just protecting the dealer!

Notice all of the "rescuers" (lol) are older (old school g's) and this 24 year old yut came in not knowing the code of the game.

there is generally a disconnect EVERYWHERE between older generations and younger ones....at work, at church, at school...and apparantly even at PRISON.

What do you value more? Life or Image?
