Iphone 4 - FAIL! New Iphone Loses Reception When You Hold It! - June 23, 2010, 07:48 PM

How ridiculous is this! You think given all the reception issues people had with Iphone 1, 2, 3 - Apple would make absolutely sure this thing was a radio beacon like no other. Maybe even push the gain and RF chip to point it'd give you brain cancer

But goddamn, to make a fundamental flaw like this! This is even worse. Now the phone loses signal WHEN YOU HOLD IT... you know, like how you would when making a call and holding it to your ear. I guess Steve thought the entire world would be hands free so there was no real need to worry about that little issue.

Someone I know with an IP4 just confirmed it too. He said he never noticed it at first because he was so used to drop out with his 2 and 3Gs.
He's pisssssssed.

The boards are lit up with complaints. I keep telling these Iphone sheeple, the Iphone is NOT a phone. It's a Mobile Apple Retail Sales Platform designed to sell you apps and music.

I've had my iPhone 4 for a few hours now and the signal strength is all over the place. At least a third of the time, it's "Searching" or "No Service" and then (after 1-5 min) it jumps back to a perfect signal with all bars. My 3GS was working just fine in the same location this morning (4-5 bars).

Is anyone else experiencing this issue? (I realize this could be a local AT&T problem here in East TN...but I'm curious if others are seeing the same thing.)

Worst service than 3GS ... This ***** .. hope they fix this quick.. call dropping one after the other.. whats going on..

The stainless steel housing provides antennas, too. Try holding the phone differently. It could make a difference.

What a great piece of advice...maybe we should hang the phone on a rope and then use it?

This about sums it up........

ALL MY HEROES ARE RUSSIAN...GO CAPS!

Well you see, Norm, it’s like this…A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Now, as we know, excessive intake of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. And that, Norm, is why you always feel smarter after a few beers.-Cliff Claven

What room are you in? How close to a cell tower are you (if you know).

If you're near a big omni directional repeater, I doubt you'll see any change.

However if you're near a directional and not in the footprint or not near a stronger repeater - blammo.

That's because the point of this thread is about the iPhone 4 loosing signal strength when you hold the phone.
