Iran Agrees To Open Talks Regarding Their Nuclear Program - October 20, 2012, 07:37 PM

No one can claim they saw this coming.
I, for one, thought this would have ended up in the escalation queue from the current clandestine operations > further sanctions > clandestine war & declared defensive operations > and finally, a declared war.

WASHINGTON — The United States and Iran have agreed in principle for the first time to one-on-one negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program, according to Obama administration officials, setting the stage for what could be a last-ditch diplomatic effort to avert a military strike on Iran.

Reminds me of when Iraq agreed to let inspectors come into one facility they had been blocking, then kicked em out.

I'll believe it when I see it. The rhetoric and the posturing will continue to override common sense.

Not to mention..they do not want Romney elected.

This is well contrived and they know that they gave carte blanche with the current administration.

This is not surprising at all.

I just thought they would have agreed to this and killed Osama in the last 3 weeks of the election cycle.

They'll just buy time with these back and forth diplomatic moods.

This will go nowhere - lots of moving mouths, grandiose rhetoric, no actual words with meaning.

For the most part...yes. Sanctions are not effective when the two most powerful countries in the world continue to trade with Iran.

Iran knows that the current administration will not do anything militarily and is stalling for time.

Strikes eerily familiar of Iran 1980.

It may lead to the verbal stalemate we have seen in many other circumstances, but I think even the least pragmatic among us would agree this is opens a channel of communication and represents a far better step than the past several months where Israel all but stated they intended to launch a pre-emptive military strike against Iran.

I will take 20 years of ongoing diplomatic discussions and verbal stalemates any day over dropping American forces in the Middle East unless absolutely necessary.

And make no mistake, if Israel were to take action against Iran, America is going to get winched into the conflict.

No one would suggest that we not attempt to communicate with them as long as it is not an attempt to make the US look foolish or a publicity stunt.

That being said, history shows that little to nothing will come of this negotiation.

Wholly different set of circumstances, BH.
At the moment this administration and whatever administration we have post November will have to take serious contemplation in the fact that we already have two wars whose unpaid debts we have run up on a credit card underwritten by China and the UAE, in addition to stepping foot in the Middle East for a fourth time in under 20 years, and all the Muslim anti-American it will accelerate beyond the nominal amounts we already have.

You need to read the post directly above your last one.

No one is suggesting that we not talk to them and go to war. That being said, you could cruise missile their plants back into the stone age. I would even let them know when they are coming so there is no human loss of life.

Reset the clock.

Damn it! Fuck Ohomo for not letting us bomb the fuck out of em!
Talking never solves anything!

I hope this fails soon so we can nuke all those fuckers and show them whats what.

God damn when did you become such a raging douchebag?

Go look at your post history. You're becoming the poster you always complain about.

Makes sense. The more we talk and stall the more they can keep building. It's a great stall tactic for Iran. Keep building while we're talking and then bam, sorry, no more talking, and oh, btw, we have a nuclear weapon. So what you gonna do now.

Very smart Iran. And very good Obama for getting this to happen the day before your foreign policy debate. Excellent political maneuvering on Obama and Iran's part.
