IRL Accident - March 27, 2006, 07:01 AM

Yesterday we saw the news scroll across the bottom of the screen at Hard Times. Paul Dana died as a result of the impact. Did anyone see the footage - brutal impact. Poor guy.

What I don't get is that there was a full 8 sec. gap between the first car spinning out and Paul hitting it. 5 other cars made it through underneath. You could clearly see that the yellow light was on warning of a wreck but it's like the spotter wasn't or couldn't communicate with Paul just before the accident so Paul had no idea where on the track it was.

Nope, he had 4 years of it under his belt including several 2nd and 3rd place finishes. That's what I don't get about the wreck. He's seen it before .. something was different about this one.

Definitely tragic Dana died but would have been much worse if Carpenter had died too, obviously he was a part of the problem but from what has been said, Dana would bear the brunt of the blame.

The first wreck was the other driver .... you can count 8 sec. before Paul impacts the wrecked car on the lower half of the track.
