ISO: Good body shop to paint my hood. - September 15, 2008, 09:56 PM

I bought a hood for my car, and it's not in the best condition. There's some oxidation on the clearcoat. I'm looking for a decent body shop to either re-clearcoat it, or match the paint on my car.

Please recommend me a decent shop that doesn't cost an arm and a leg to paint a hood. Thanks!!

I don't have the tools to do so. And I'd rather not do it by hands.

post pics. It might buff right out. you may be able to buy a buffer for cheaper than the paint job. I burnt up my last el-cheapo buffer, or I'd let you borrow it. I'm going to invest in a good one at some point.

The Porter Cable 7424 is a popular one.

Dude that owned the hood before me tried to buff it out with a professional buffer. Not only it didnt fix the hood, it made it worse (?). The only fix to this is to sand it down and reclear or paint it over. =\

cool. I'd offer to paint it, but I'm a hack. I'm also too new in town to have those types of connects.

Believe it or not Maaco is pretty good. It all depends on which shop u go to. The cool thing is their cheap and they make sure your satisfied with the job or they keep doing it till you are.

The two best shops around here are Matchless auto body on rt 7 near baron cameron but they are pricey and slow, also craftsman auto body over by expo is great, they painted my stang when it got hit and it was amazing work.
