Job Description:

(specifically in support of Lockheed Martin)

As Systems Engineer (SE), you will work in an overlay capacity to your sales counterparts in various functional sales segments including Enterprise, Service Provider, and Channel Sales within your assigned territory. The channel SE is an individual contributor and lead technical subject matter expert for Channel within his/her assigned territory, and responsible for both pre-sales and post-sales support. Pre-sales activities include scoping and qualifying opportunities, delivering in-depth technical training to customers, prospects, partners, and the regional SE community. Post-sales activities include coordinating professional services resources to complete or assist with implementation work, assist with implementation as required, and act as part of escalation team for key accounts.

The channel SE role is ideal for a candidate who has 5-7 years experience Pre- and Post-Sales experience in the area of IP Networking, Load Balancing Technologies, Content and Application Delivery, Virtualization and/or Security solutions. The ideal candidate will have the skill set and knowledge base to interface with end users and partners in qualifying opportunities, designing Channel products into multi-vendor environments, and be competent to install, configure, and support the Channel products. Key to an individual’s success is strong written and verbal communication skills, and subject matter expertise in application networking solutions.

Day-To-Day Responsibilities
• Act as the technical subject matter expert for Channel products and services within assigned territory
• Regular interaction with peers and managers inside and outside of sales segment
• High level of direct customer interaction, often working independently with customers and partners
• Participate in supporting the assigned territory in preparation of detailed proposals, statements of work, project deployments, and Requests for Feature Enhancements
• Scope and design Channel solutions into multi-vendor environments
• Design, communicate, and deliver internal and on-site customer Proof-of-Concepts
• Develop and deliver customer and partner training as required
• Assist with implementation and installation of **** Channel technologies at customer sites and lab environments
• Troubleshoot technical issues and problems using analytical methods to identify root cause
• Problem analysis and data gathering including packet trace in support of escalated issues
• Prioritize incoming issues as well as being able to resolve time-critical situations professionally and reliably
• Partner with Channel Business Unit product management and marketing to assist with RFE’s
• Maintain knowledge of competitive landscape and share knowledge with peers and Channel Business Unit
• Work effectively with Engineering, Product Management/Development, and the Technical Support organization
• Foster a collaborative, team-based environment, sharing best practices and building lasting relationships


Education and Experience

• BS in engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent work experience
• 5-7 years in Pre-Sales and Post-Sales Engineering role in IP Networking, Load Balancing, Content and Application Delivery, Virtualization and/or Security products and solutions within assigned territory
• 8 - 10 years industry experience
• Ability to communicate, both oral and written, on complex technical and sales issues
• Ability to troubleshoot simple and complex problems from OSI Layer-1 – Layer-7, including LAN switches, routers, load balancers, and general TCP/IP
• Travel as required

This will be supporting (DoD / Civ Gov / Intel etc.,) but primarily focused on Lockheed Martin sell-to and sell-through business in support of Federal Activities. In addition to supporting a small number of Tier 2 Channel organizations regionally.
