Job Openings @ FAA - April 16, 2009, 08:03 AM

Know anyone who might be interested?
If you, have or know kids between the ages of 18-31 with a high school diploma, the Federal Aviation Association is taking applications for air traffic controller school... We all have kids and know kids in the right age group (under 31) and with some effort they could reach a salary of over $100,000 with benefits in about 3 years!
You need only a high school diploma to apply and credit is given for college on the exam. They need to go to:
http://www.faa.gov/jobs/job_opportunities/airtraffic_controllers/
For details and to fill out the application immediately - even if they don't know if they'd want to attend immediately - it's the federal government and it may take them months to call.
The key is to apply NOW.
There will be a lot of retirements coming up rather quickly and they need to line up training to accommodate these openings.

I was just going to comment on this!
They should include in the job description that applicants who cannot deal with high stress situations and working conditions need not apply.

My dad is a retired Air Traffic Controller and they keep trying to call him back to work for this hiring reason. There will be KIDS working, but, the guys that are there now are the guys that were working with my dad when he retired 10 years ago. These guys need to retire. It's true that it's VERY stressful and it ages a lot of those people, but my dad came out okay and he's 64 and just now getting gray! Good genes!

So, yes, $100k is a GOOD salary no matter how you look at it! Get a 21 year old making that kind of cash and you're good to go. Nobody said you have to RETIRE from there! But, who knows, you just might like it.

I'd apply, but I just missed the age limit!

This sounds like a "neat" opportunity... 100K is about 65K more than my current $ so a move may not be a bad option. I'll look into this, this evening...

Insert "killer"

Sorry, but I don't have any hook ups. I just got that email from my dad and thought I'd pass it on.

$100k many years down the road still, it probably starts off pretty good. you can make good money, but you gotta stay there for a long time. they're really trying to get lifers, and that's why they have an age limit of 31. it takes years upon years to become a master ATC.

No, I realize this... But in 3 to 4 years I don't see 6 figures popping up next to my name on my paycheck from the business I am with now.
