jobless? sue your alma mater! - August 4, 2009, 08:08 AM

BAHAHAHA, this is ridiculous!

2.7 GPA and she's pissed she can't get a job. Jesus man, our country is crazy, people really do sue you for everything.

Yea, saw this on BBC yesterday (how the heck did BBC pick it?). She sounds like a complete idiot. "They should have called to make them interview me. They favored the ones with 4.0 GPA"

Back in my day, most companies would NOT interview you with under a 3.0.

Sigh... This is where we need a short bus icon.

Really????.....Really????? Has it come to this???? I can totally understand the frustration but she wants to blame the college for her not getting a job? Where exactly does it gurantee that they will find you a job? I swear, people are just sueing for the hell of it now-a-days.

And what kills me is she just graduated in May. I know very few people that got a job less than three months out of college.

Oh, what does "great attendance" have to do with college? Nowhere on my transcripts does it list attendance rate. Don't get that.

Hey now a 2.7 is a solid B-. It shows that you cared enough to go to class, but studying just wasnt your piece of pie. Well for me at least.

Frivolous law suits, man, I have really started to see the need for tort reform.

I graduated last year, and when I was going to career fairs / looking for jobs, 3.0 is really were most companies draw the line. some booths at career fairs would look straight at the GPA, and if it wasn't 3.0, would just tell the guy that they need to meet the minimum requirements.

lol.. At least she got an IT degree.. that is a specifically marketable skill.. I can't believe the number of English, Sociology, History, Speech, etc. degrees that they hand out.. Just WTF do you do with THAT when you get out of school? you have 2 choices, retail or more schooling for an advanced degree and teach... Schools that don't make this clear to students should get sued...

Hahahaha, a friend and I were having a conversation a few years back about degrees and how our fathers would have smacked us if we were studying sociology, or philosophy or something like that with out plans for a doctorate, my friend brought up a good point...

"What happens when you graduate and none of the good philosophy firms are hiring!?"

You end up in accounting :\ Perfect mindless job for someone who went to school to learn how to think. I don't even work with anyone who would begin to understand what my thesis was about ...
