Overview: A successful Neustar Help Desk Technician performs the following tasks on a timely basis with the highest levels of quality and customer focus:
  • Provides 24x7x365 technical support for Washington, DC, California, Sterling, VA and International offices, and to our virtual user community.
  • Ensures that we meet/exceed our SLAs in the areas of laptop deployment, application deployment, inventory, virus protection/maintenance, Blackberry support, VPN, OWA, e-mail, and dial-up connectivity.


Responsibilities: Provides support to end users on a variety of issues. Identifies, researches, and resolves technical problems. Responds to telephone calls, e-mail and in-person requests for technical support. Documents, tracks, and monitors the problem to ensure a timely resolution. Supports, monitors, tests, and troubleshoots hardware and software problems pertaining to Windows clients. Recommends and schedules repairs. Provides end-user support for all Help Desk/Microsoft-based applications. Installs and configures workstations. Provides analysis related to the design, development, and implementation of hardware for products and end-user requests. Develops test strategies, devices, and systems. Performs stress and performance tests on a variety of computer hardware including circuit boards, processors, memory, and hard disks. Evaluates new information systems products or services and suggests changes to existing products or services to better assist the end user.
  • Customer technical support for Connectivity, Software installation, Software support.
  • Assist in installing and upgrading MS Office products across the company (Laptops/Desktops).
  • Build and deploy virtual desktops using VMware.
  • Ghost images: Creating and updating new and existing desktops/laptops images. These images are deployed to Internal Neustar employees. These images contain service packs, software updates, MS vulnerabilities, security patches and Windows registry edits.
  • Blackberry Configuration, installation and troubleshooting.
  • Documentation - Assist in evaluating Neustar’s current documentation for Help Desk policies/procedures and updating them to meet our new standards and goals. Creating procedure documentation for current processes that lack documentation.
  • Account creation and maintenance for New Hires and Terminations.
  • Ensures that all malfunctioning Laptops and Desktops are inspected and repaired in a timely manner.


Qualifications: Minimum 5 years experience in a Tier I, II, III Help Desk position.

Minimum High School graduate with a concentration in Network and/or Server Administration.

The successful candidate must possess: prior Microsoft Technical training; Windows XP/7 and Server 2003/2008 knowledge; and familiarity with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures.

The successful Neustar team member must: work effectively and efficiently both independently and within a team environment; rely upon experience, creativity, and sound judgment to accomplish team and individual goals, problem solve, and innovate improvements; work well under pressure; be self managed--drive towards execution with quality and results at the forefront; be able to easily multi-task in a fast-paced environment; and be able to lead and direct the work of others, if called upon.
