Just bought a townhouse!!! - May 7, 2007, 03:03 PM

I just bought a townhouse (condo-townhouse style) here in Fairfax, VA near Wegmans. I go to closing on May 31st!

This is the first propery I have ever owned.

I'm looking for two roommates (Preferabbly those that ride motorcycles). The townhouse is located near the new Fairfax Town Center! It's a 3BR 2.5 bath with attached garage townhouse style condo.

If you know of anyone looking for a place my place will be ready to rent by mid June.

But I wanted to thank a few individuals who inspired me to make sacrifices so that I was able to get this house:

Mike and Louise - Thanks for all of your help and guidance with personal and professional
advice and for being such good friends. You helped me realize that I
need to invest my money in a house rather than on bikes and parts.

Norman - Thanks for the inspiration! You helped me to see that I needed to get
on with my life and actually get a place instead of wasting my money
on rent, bikes, girls, trips, etc. It also helped motivate me when I see
how successfull you have been after purchasing your home!

When I get everything together and the house ready I will invite all of you for a house warming.

But pass the word along...I'm looking for 2 roommates.

You buy in Carrage Park? Those are pretty nice units. I have been looking in there also.

congrats.

I suggest you talk to a financial planner for budget purposes. Figure out the exemptions you can tack on to get more $$ month. Use that money for the just in case scenerio's. The unwanted fix it jobs and the like. Dong forget start up/move in costs for utilities and any furniture you dont have.

It is a great first step, but dont go too crazy already spending your tax refund. Get into the groove of owning a house and be prepared.

Best advice I can give ya is creating a budget and sticking to it!

I lived there for 2 years. Enjoy man, I really miss the place sometimes. Watch out for the parking nazis though. Make sure you have your visitor passes and that all your visitors know to display them.
