Just Got Apple TV - November 28, 2010, 06:22 PM

And its facking awesome! It only costs $99. You get to use your Netflix acct, mobile me acct, YouTube acct, a couple other options. What I love about it the most is the fact that I can control everything from my iphone including my mac, pc itunes, and apple tv all at the same time. God, I love Apple products

Yep, the $99 price point made it more appealing to me, so I copped one when they were first released. Gotta say - it is pretty sweet. AirPlay is pretty nice.

I'm on the fence about this, Google TV, and Boxee.

I don't know which one to go with at this time. I heard Google T/V is getting shut out of alot of content by the networks. I wonder how long before they start clamping down on the other boxes.

I have Boxee... its not worth it (yet). Hulu is in discussion with them and Netflix is coming soon... so right now its basically a 199$ video streamer with some tv shows here and there... once it gets Hulu+/Netflix it will be much better.

The AppleTV price point is great, and will probably be much better once it gets a stable jailbreak and people start writing apps for it.

I honestly expected more out of Boxee, but meh... I'm sure it will get better.

Apple TV can't be beat.

Rip all your media onto your PC/Mac and stream it straight to your TV.

I literally threw away 300+ DVD's after I ripped them to my computer.

What is the point of this device? Is it basically for older TVs that can't hook up to your home wireless Internet/network?

It seems like they don't deliver any content at all... you still have to sign up for everything individually, Netflix, etc.

You can stream all of your media on your PC with a nice interface.

Also has access to iTunes store so you can rent/buy movies without leaving your couch.

For $99, it offers a nice UI with ease of access to your media.

Better have some sort of backup of that. You'll be pissed when the drive dies.

Of course.

It's all backed up on 3 different drives. I'm a little OCD when it comes to backup.

I still don't get what it is AppleTV, boxee, and google TV do? So it doesn't actually give you any live TV? Watching TV on the internet sucks, why can't they have a box that let's you get live TV and you pick the individual channels you want to pay for. It's be nice to turn on the TV and see the 20 stations you actually watch and pay for pop up on your screen.

Otherwise it sounds like it costs 100 bucks to get a device so you don't have to hook your computer up to your TV....

Should have just boxed them all up and put them in storage because what happens when your hard drive fails, as they eventually all do.

I bought a 2TB USB 3.0 external, but I'm still keeping my hard copies.
