Question Just got my first XBOX. An XBOX 360 4GB. Where do I start? - November 27, 2011, 11:40 AM

I've always been a PC gamer, with a Wii for simple games for my wife/4-yo son. After seeing the Kinect in action, my wife agreed that we should get one.

So I got a 4GB XBOX 360 from Target on Black Friday. The only things I have for it are a second controller and Call of Duty: MW3. Cool game so far, but I'm just so new to the XBOX in general I'm sure there are things I'm missing or should consider. I've never had one or even played one before.

Anyone have any advice? Like switching to a bigger HDD? Or using it as a HTPC? Not sure what I can do with it. Could use some tips/tricks for you XBOX guys who have been doing this for years.

Gamefly... or rent games rather then buy them until your really get a feel for what you like.

Shooters - like COD and Battlefield are fun for multiplayer - but have ok campaigns

For the kid and adults try some of the lego games...

get the big harddrive and down load the game demos and watch the latest vids via the xbox....

netflix on the xbox is a nice option also

when you get a hard drive, install your games to it. You still have to have the disc in the xbox, but should the disc get damaged it will most likely still work if installed to the hdd

dont waste your money on the "NEW style" hdd...look for an older model HD from say Xbox elite...then take it apart and install it to your Xbox 120g should be plenty...and you can get them used @ gamestop for 20$ or so instead of buying the new style one and paying 80+....

i have pics i took on how to do it if needed...save yourself a few $$$

and actually anytype of HDD(laptop etc) should fit if you want to go that route...

+1 on the external HD, just about any external USB Hard Drive will be cheaper and get you the same results

Wait ? Externals work now?
http://www.dcsportbikes.net/forum/ed...post&p=1188608
with my Elite (i got in 04/05) wouldnt register the external you needed a thumbdrive with a boot code or something?!?!

if thats the case external FTW....

When my Elite died...i had everything on my HD....i thought they swapped... they didnt..so this is what came of my old HDD

only issue is , you need needle nose pliers to pull it out... but upside is i didnt loose any of my saved game crap

If you were a PC gamer you will probably want to get the mouse/keyboard combo going for your FPS, the controller just isn't the same.

+1 on the Forza 4, the need speed: on the run looks fun as well

Dance Central games. I know it may sound gay, but that game is loads of fun. Great party material or just exercise.
