Ouch, sorry to hear that. I know a top notch ortho in... Kansas. Sorry I can't help with a recommendation closer to home. Get well soon.

Sorry to hear about it, but been there done that. No worries, you'll be fine. Just do what your PT tells you to and you won't miss next season.

Try McConnell at Commonwealth Orthopedics. I used to see him in Tyson's Corner but they've got a bunch of offices. Their entire staff is TOP NOTCH.

Saddler at Mt Vernon Ortho did my original surgery, he's an excellent surgeon but his doctor skills need a little work.

Town Center Orthopaedics. Dr. Thal did my hip, Dr. Berg did a hip on a good friend. They're the Team docs for the Redskins, too, so they are pretty good! They have offices in Reston, Centreville, and Leesburg. There are several others in the office, all with good reps. Dr. Thal specializes in knees and shoulders.

Reston Office:
1860 Town Center Drive, Ste. 300
Reston, Virginia 20190
Phone: 703-435-6604

thanks a lot, anyone have any complaints about using a certain tendon over another. Sure each doc will have there opinion as to which is best but I know I have heard the patella is the strongest just has more people complaining about arthritis as to say the hamstring.

wow, ur gonna wait that long to have surgery on it?

Dr. Thomas Klein (Commonwealth Orthopedics - Reston Hospital)

I had a torn ACL, MCL, & Miniscus last year after being run over on the track. He went above and beyond with laser assisted surgery, top notch medical center...and their physical therapy staff... nuff said. lol Expect a nice bill tho, mine was about $20,000. BUT...it was worth it b/c they gave me a handicap parking pass that I've used up until it expired this past month. That shit was sooo handy! Considering intentionally hurting myself to get another one.

Dr. Raymond Thal

Dr. Mark Madden

They are knee/shoulder specialists. Neither have good bedside manners

Got to wait awhile because I will miss too much school if I do it now. And I want to get as much strength and motion in it before surgery. I also have to have an appointment first so I have to fly home this weekend to do that before I get scheduled for surgery. I mean I cant hurt it anymore, and I need to get it over a ling break to not have to get to and from class and up to my 3rd floor without an elevator. But my school picks up the bill for surgery, rehab, and donjon brace.

Commonwealth Orothopedics is very good - Dr. Lennen repaired my torn labrum last year, and worked on my knee in August. Top knotch guy, and I highly recommend him. They have an office in Ashburn which should be open now, or opening soon. Good luck!

Where are you in school? Often college's/Universities have "retreat suites" for students who have an injury to stay in temporarily while they recover. Also as far as the technique use, there are pros and cons to each and it depends on what your expectations are. If you plan on becoming a professional athlete, continue playing at a varsity level, or just want a solid knee that you can do average level of exercise with good stability. No one will be able to make it "good as new" though.

Feel free to PM with questions.

Yeah I am in school in North Carolina. We dont have any other housing for athletes injured. But I do plan on continuing varisty athletics and staying very active after college. I have a scheduled appt with Dr. Thal to schedule surgery. Guess most surgeons will have their own theory as to what to use.
