Lake front cabin rentals - July 17, 2013, 02:37 PM

Looking to get away for a few day with just the girlfriend and I. I'm not wanting to do the beach thing and she's wanting somewhere quiet to just lounge around, read and get some sun. I'm wanting to keep it around a 3 hour drive from Burke Va. Looking to see if anyone has any recommendations.

Lake Anna (1.5 - 2.0 hours) or Smith Mountain Lake (3.5 hours) are two great choices.

No personal leads on rentals though, sorry.

My family has a house at Anna.

That would be my suggestion.

Lots of lakefront properties for rent down there.

My family has a place at Deep Creek, MD. I love it up there, but it's a bit further than lake anna. It's also tough to rent a place JUST for the weekend in the summer time, the rentals usually go sat-sat. If you're looking for quiet, smith mtn

ALL MY HEROES ARE RUSSIAN...GO CAPS!

Well you see, Norm, itís like thisÖA herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Now, as we know, excessive intake of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. And that, Norm, is why you always feel smarter after a few beers.-Cliff Claven

Deep Creek Lake IMO. We came here for small vacations for years and finally decided to move here. The area is awesome and the weather is always cooler and less humid than NOVA.

I just got back from Deep Creek yesterday. It is really nice, peaceful up there. The lake gets busy Sat/Sun, but calms down for most of the weekdays. Definitely beautiful place.
