Question Laptop recommendation for youth? - February 5, 2013, 07:48 AM

I'm looking to buy a laptop as a gift for a 12 yr old. Do you all have any recommendations?

This, a used machine is perfect for a 12 year old.

Yeah I am old enough to know better. Thing is, I just don't care.

They're family and the family computer gets hogged up by the other kids. She's going to use it primarily for occasional games, Facebook, and Skype. We have family spread out across the country and a lot of use Skype to keep up.

Cuban is a good source.
He can help you out. I've bought at least 3 laptops from him for myself and family in need of a machine.

My almost 9 year old got a laptop for Christmas. His school has all sorts of educational tools available to him online and I was tired of him using my computers. Not to mention it much easier for him to hook it up to his tv to watch movies, or play games. He also uses Skype to talk to his aunt in Colorado and his best friend who moved to New York last year.

Get something cheap and built well enough. Cubn's would be perfect.

You would be surprised how many schools are transitioning to supplemental online learning and lesson plans, as well as in class room computer use during lessons.

My ex-girlfiend's daughter attends one of the public elementary schools in Bethesda. She's 9, and I was surprised to see how much computer and online incorporation there was in her lesson plan.
