Large Dog Beds - November 7, 2007, 10:46 AM

Does anyone know where I can find a LARGE dog bed for my Doberman? Okay, I don't mean a big flat pillow type of bed. I want one that she can go INSIDE but it's for inside the house. Kind of like a little hut. I used to have an igloo looking thing for my Shih-tzu's but that was like 10 years ago. Do they even make something like this for BIG dogs?

I have big dog beds all over the house, but my one dog gets cold at night and she, obviously, doesn't know how to pull her blanket up over her.

Where my doggy peeps at?

Wal-Mart still sells the igloos and they are made in sizes large enough for big dogs.

Or if you can't find an indoor one -- a pretty blanket draped over a crate. Or dress up an outdoor igloo.

The only thing with the Igloo ones is that they are hard. I wanted a soft cushy type igloo thing.

Jess, you know I have beds all over the place. Eventually, they flatten them down. Those beds don't keep her (Bailey) warm at night though. I think she needs her back to be covered. I got up in the middle of the night to see her with her head under her pillow.

Lucy, her crate in the basement has that drape over it. She doesn't sleep in there at night though. I just don't want an ugly crate in my room.

Thanks guys. Warren, I'm going to check out Petco.com next.

Will keep an eye out for you, Stacey.

Thought about making one? Get creative with the PVC pipe and yardage material from Joanns?

Costco has dog beds... Petco and Petsmart sell the igloos.. So does ebay and Craigslist. You might just want to get a heated bed (like a heating pad)?

I always used a heated blanket/throw blanket on a timer. I would set it to come on the lowest setting around bedtime and then turn off in the morning. The only trick is finding a heated throw blanket with a switch that can be left in the "on" position to accomodate the timer.

Costco's actual price for a large dog bed with cedar perma-scent is $20.
