Lasiiiik!!! - July 13, 2007, 09:10 AM

So I decided to bite the bullet and finally get Lasik surgery done... For anyone who has been on the fence about it.. DO IT. It's totally amazing. I ended up going to Millenium in Tyson's (the guys who did Tiger Woods eyes).

I wasn't that bad (-1.75 in both eyes) and still the wow factor is there... 24 hours after the surgery and I feel like I can see through walls.

Oh, and if you have Blue Cross Blue Shield TLC has a deal with them for a huge discount on Lasik... For the "top of the line" with Millenium it is 5200$ for both eyes. With the BCBS discount it is 3800$. You can opt to use the "metal tool" that creates the flap in your eye and get a 800$ discount, so the cheapest I saw was 3000$ with BCBS.... but fack metal tools cutting my eyes. All lazers baby!

Big +1,000,000,000. I got that 6 years ago and still rock 20/10 in both eyes. My doctor said he had never seen such great results. I can only imagine the advancements out there since I had it done.

Waking up in the middle of the night and seeing the alarm clock and knowing you have an extra 30 minutes of sleep.....priceless!

Thanks for the post Rob, I've been thinking about doing this. Maybe in the next year or so I'll do it.

Wow. I'm almost 4 years out and I had no idea that the human eye could see this well. Every single day I use that $1200 investment (both eyes from Lasik Plus in Alexandria) and my vision is as incredible as the day I had it done (even with astigmatism).

My favorite plusses? Cheap sunglasses and being able to see everything while snorkeling in cheap borrowed gear. Oh, and of course impressing everyone with my incredible vision!

the actual operations takes like no more than 10 minutes.

you do a bunch of pre-opt tests.

day of: you take some valium, sit for 50 mins, walk into the laser room, lay down, they put some drops in ur eye and the laser does its thing. the doctor moves the flap the laser cuts and then the laser does its magic and u then smell the scent of burnt eyeball. close the flap, puts more drops, and repeat on other eye.
