I'm almost 7 years (I think) off of my Wavefront Lasik I had done at TLC in Tysons and still have 20/15 vision. Or 15/20. Or whatever is really good - forget which way it goes.

I have slight halos at night, but I had those with contacts anyway so I consider that a wash. I stare at a computer screen all day too and haven't noticed any dryness or anything else negative.

When I went in for my last yearly checkup, my optometrist said that my retinas were the cleanest healing they had ever seen on a lasik patient. Guess I got lucky with that.

Still the best money I've spent in my life.

Real question: Doesn't lasik wear off after 10 years and you can't get it done again?

LASIK is a surgical procedure and doesn't wear off. For the same reason people continue to get their vision checked and sometimes get a new prescription for their lenses, LASIK may be repeated at a later date.

The first step is to get your eyes mapped to find out if you're even a candidate for it. At that time they can probably tell you if you are likely to be able to have it done more than once.

I was legally blind and every time I needed new lenses they cost over 400. I had it done when I turned 50 so even if my vision changes and I need new glasses again at least I'll be able to afford it.

My wife wants to get LASIK or a boob job

She asked my opinion

I told her I have no vested interest in making her eyesight better

Alright so my girl is looking to get this done soon, and after reading all this I have seen several places that have been mentioned. Any feedback on them (personal experience would be great):

Google LASIK and floaters. I had the procedure done in like 2003. My "new" vision lasted maybe 5 years. I also got early PVD with crap loads of floaters. I had a vitrectomy in 2012 to remove all the crap from the INSIDE of my eyes. I should have known better about the temporary fix as most of the people in the waiting room were there for "enhancements." An enhancement is getting the procedure done again. One of the worst decisions I ever made.

Edit: my procedure was performed by Dr. Perot from Whitten. They were in Frederick at the time but closed that location. Perot opened his own place. All the pre-screening was at Whitten in Rockville.

Let us know how it goes. I've been thinking about doing it for awhile now as well.

FDA info:

What should I expect before, during, and after surgery?

Sorry to hear that. As I understand it safety has improved significantly since 2003 but they are still not perfect. I do know that one of the primary device reviewers at FDA, who wears glasses, will not consider getting it done (but he won't wear contacts either, another device he has reviewed).

Subs for information. My vision is starting to hit the breakpoint where I may require glasses on a full-time basis, and I would rather avoid this if possible.

“Any man who tries to be good all the time is bound to come to ruin among the great number who are not good. Hence a Prince who wants to keep his authority must learn how not to be good, and use that knowledge, or refrain from using it, as necessity requires”.
