Hello fellow sportbikers... I got this message today and its pretty remarkable. Largest rescue in history. Check out the link included and you will see what i'm talking about. I just got done making my PayPal donation at http://www.cchs.petfinder.com

here is the original message in its entirety.. thanks for looking, and my apologies if i have offended or inconvenienced anyone, or if this is against the rules of the forum but sometimes we have to bend the rules to do some good...

Hi everyone. I'd like to apologize for bothering you, but wanted to pass
this along to you as soon as possible. In the past many of you have shown
interest in helping pets in need, and as you'll read below we can definitely
use your help right now.

I will not share the entire story with you in this message for fear of
offending or upsetting you. However, you can find all of the details on the
following link:
Be warned, though, it is upsetting. I will tell you that 360 cats and
approximately 18 or 20 dogs were rescued from a true nightmare and now need
help to get healthy again. (The article above gives a different number than
what I just stated. Unfortunately some of the pets did not survive.) And no,
that was not a typo...there are close to 400 pets rescued from one house &
one couple who claimed to be their "care takers".

Below is a list of supplies that the shelter is in desperate need of. I will
be making a run to the shelter on Saturday (5/17/03) to deliver as many
supplies as I can. If you are able to contribute anything below, please try
to bring it in between on Friday the 16th (tomorrow). Even if it's just a
bag of cotton balls or a box of q-tips. At this point, ANYTHING will help!
If you are interested in donating but will not have the time tonight to go
shopping, perhaps you could purchase a Petsmart Gift Certificate & mail it
to the shelter. The address is below.

Thanks so much for your consideration and your kindness. Karyn, x4153

Supplies needed are:

Money!!! Checks can be made out directly to the Caroline County Humane
Society, 407 West Bell Street, Ridgely, MD 21660)
Q-tips (to clean ears)
Cotton balls (also to clean ears)
Spray-on ringworm medication
Old clothes, worn sheets or blankets, and old towels (for bedding - big need
as they cannot re-use bedding that is soiled for fear of spreading disease)
Clumping or Clay Litter
Litter Boxes (even the tops of card board boxes will suffice, so long as
they have something to use)
Food & Treats (cat & dog, dry or canned, doesn't matter at this point, they
just need to eat!)
Bowls (preferably stainless steel)
Toys (used is fine so long as they are clean)
Old Bed Pillows (can also serve as bedding)
Crates (all sizes, but especially big ones that cats can live in)
Petco, Petsmart or WalMart gift certificates
Paper Towels
Test Kits
Ear Mite Meds
Heating Pads
Rectal Thermometers (w/ covers)
Flea/tick treatments
Anything else you can think of to make these pets as comfortable as possible
