I'm sure you'll have a lot more help here looking for pets than I will looking for clubman bars.

Ugh, Boston's are such odd looking, hyper dogs.

This is the closest club affiliated with the Boston Terrier Club of America. I'd start with their breeder referrals. Most reputable breeders know and talk to eachother so they may even be able to point you to a closer breeder or rescue.

I was looking for one when I found the Jack Russell. Dreamy Puppies in Chantilly had some. If they don't have them when you go in, they can call you when they do.

yeah thanks guys. Long story, short. My beagle had to be put down. Just looking for a calm, short haired, not to much barking, and good with people dog.

Supporting puppy mills and impulse buying. UUuhhhgggg! A good breeder would never let any part of a litter go to a place pimps varied breed of puppies on display.

HFam do your research and take your time. Find a good caring breeder that "places" instead of "sells". Never buy a pup after the first visit.

I recommend reading, "The art of puppy raising" by the Monks of New Skete. The book has great tips and hints to puppy selection.

And yes. Bostons are HYPER - factor in lots of Doggy Day Care.

Good luck.

Wow. Another bad match. Think about it...Jacks were breed to hunt! They are HIGH energy and bark a lot - chase rodents, small animals, sometimes kids. Think Hunters on Horses - packs of barking dogs, chasing Fox's.

Yeah, you really need to look at the different breeds to know what works for you. Don't just go with cute or trendy...go with what works for your situation/temperment. Although I sometimes refer to this site as brokenpets.com you might try petfinders.com they place breeds (and normally have something from each) that are in rescues.

Boston's are NOT calm...imagine a larger, black & white Jack Russell!!!! They only get calm when they get too old and fat to jump!

The larger the dog the calmer and vice versa (usually).

Calm, short haired, loving dog? Rottweiler!
