A friend of mine is a master builder and architect. I'm not sure what type of stuff you're looking to have done, but he can most likely take care of it.

Be your own GC. it's lots of work but you'll save a bunch of money and be able to take pride in the project. Not just write a check.
Apply to be on DIY network TV. that would be fun.
You should be on this show.

The basement is bare. It will need the concrete torn up in a 3' x 3' area for the bathroom. All permits must be pulled and inspections done. Also plumbing in the entire house needs replaced before basement is finished. We have talked to several contractors but only 1 has giving us an estimate. I need someone who wants to get paid for doing good work.

Hey if I wanted to do it on my own I would not be posting up this thread. I do not have the time. If I had no jobs I could do most if not all of it.

i have a subcontractor thats doing our basement. it should be finished in a few days. i can snap some pics. had the same work that you're looking to do; finish basement and add a full bathroom.

the basement is 300 sq ft, the dude got paid $4,000 for labor plus cost of all materials. also a plumber came in to do all the plumbing and concrete smashing for $2000. its coming out to about $11,000 all said and done. mahogany wood flooring, heated granite tiles in bathroom and ceramic tiles on the walls, recessed lighting, replaced staircase with oak.

horsepower is how fast you hit the wall, torque is how far you take the wall with you

I think he was just trying to point out a way to save some money. I would guess he doesnt know what your work schedule is or what your time restraints are. We have acted as our own GC on all the projects around our Apartment build and have save a ton of money and were able to put much nicer stuff into the renovations because of it.

I will post up a link of a local contracter review board we used on the race shop when i get home

my landlord is a GC (builds houses and rents them out, also does work for companies and corporations)

lives in Manassas about a block away from me in Yorkshire.

a few ppl on here have seen the house I rent a room in...ask them how it looks....he also built the house next to the one I rent a room in....and he built his own house that's a block away...all 2 stories with finished basements and garages etc etc etc

feel free to email him at sdsrentals@gmail.com his name is Sam.... you can tell him Derek referred you ( I get nothing if you do or don't) his rent is extremely fair so I can only assume his fees are as well. Very stand up guy, honest, thorough, safe, and his communication is 110%

good luck.
