Looking For A Good VW Mechanic In College Park / Laurel / Beltsville - January 2, 2016, 03:29 PM

My normal, trusted German car mechanic moved to Florida. He keep all the cars running like a top. Would even do some of the minor pre-emptive stuff for labor cost only - no mark-up on parts.
4 weeks after he leaves, the Passat's engine started doing weird things.

Took it to a mechanic who said he fixed it. 2 weeks later, CEL is lit up and the trouble is back. Not going back to them again.

There is a Pep Boys not too far away and a VW Dealership near the NSA, but I'd rather save those for the absolute last options.

Good reviews about Bowie Auto Clinic. Friend used to work there and the mechanics are competent. Though that's out of your range.

Bowie is not too too far away. I'm willing to travel (within reason) to find a solid mechanic who knows how to work on these cars and their peculiarities, and not just read a scanner.

Any wrench turner can read a scanner.

NGP Racing! I believe I recommended them in another thread. Hands down best place! All they do is Audi/VW, and not only the best work but best prices too! They know all those cars in and out. Find the same part online they will match it or beat it. Labor about the same as a good old trusty local shop. Check them out, if I can't do work myself its the only place I go. They have 2 locations Lorton and Aberdeen.

Don't you have a w8 passat wagon? Is it a manual?
