Looking for a job again. - December 17, 2009, 11:27 AM

After finding out my last place of work was going to be closing the doors I took the job I am at now.

Well yesterday I found out some interesting stuff about how they do my payroll and needless to say it isn't done in my favor. Than today I found out that my sales manager has been steeling customers from all i can think of is it is so that I do not make as much commission. I my be a lot of things but I am not a cheat or a thief and I do not want to work for one or be associated with a company that has these types of business practices.

So it is back to the job pages.

Let me know if you guys have any leads.

I have 20 years experience in the Automotive industry. doing everything from sweeping floors to managing High volume shops. I have a great Customer service back ground and proven record also. I also have Event planning experience and am very interested in maybe changing careers into that field.

I do not have clearance

Thank you in advance

Dan

For reason you all know I can not take a job as a proof reader

Didn't Volkswagen just open a US HQ in Northern Virginia. I know last year they were hiring like mad.

But honestly, it may a good time to re-assess and get out of the automotive industry altogether. Sales and Biz management are skills transferable to just about any business.

The finer points of certain industries can be gained through training, which no matter what job you take, you'd have to go through a training seminar anyway.

In the meantime - FILE A COMPLAINT with the Larbor Enforcement Board of your State / County and your corporate HQ for the practices of your sales manager.

Frankly, a sales manager should be spending most of their time MANAGING the sales staff and sales department - not trying to book customers. So that reeks of bad management principles anyway.

And if he's intentionally stealing customers so he can reduce/claim your commission, that's definitely not a business practice allowed in any state, anywhere.

VW was hiring I was very qualified for the Motorsports position but I do not have a bachelors degree.

I have found in this area that a lot of emphasis is but on that degree. Which is fine and understandable. I will be back in school in march and should have my degree 18 months after that.

Yes all the things my bosses are doing are protected under the laws. The problem comes in proving that it wasnt just a mistake. When I brought it to their attention they said they would fix it. If it continues I have some plans as to how to make it even

Dan...apply. With your experience, it could very well trump the BD.

Seriously....apply.

*plus I want some VW hook ups *

I did. I even had a letter of Rec from the director of GM racing and they wanted the BD. I am going to try again when I get the degree. They are not filling that position at this time

Most reqs I've seen say "BS required or [some range] years of applicable experience." You may be able to overcome the BS issue by using all of your experience.

Much luck for you Dan.

I hate that companies weigh degrees over experience, but sometimes I see why they do it. A degree generally can't be faked. Experience is subjective. With the degree it is assumed there is at least a bonified level of knowledge.

Very very true!!

I do like applying for the jobs the say experience may out way a BS degree. However in these times there are a lot of very very qualified people trying for each job. There are also people out there that need a job much more than I do. Everything always seems to have a strange way of working out for the best in the end. It is just the travel to the end that sucks at times.

Thank you to everybody for your help

Nubbs - my buddy just posted on his FB that they are looking for salesmen at stohlman subaru/vw/mitsu. He's been there for 10+ years...and makes pretty good money. If you're interested, let me know.
