Looking to Purchase a Home?? Help!! - April 3, 2006, 08:50 AM

Me and the misses are looking to buy a single family home. We are going to rent for one year. Our problem is that Fairfax/ NOVA area is too pricey!!! Our price is from $199,000 - $220,000. I know the price seems low but we are not trying to live in a bad area any ideas within VA most we will drive is 45mins we have looked at houses in DEL but there is nothing there also trying to stay with my company and do not want to find a new again!!!! thanks in advance!!

After looking around the Chantilly/Centreville/Fair Oaks area, I can assure you that there is nothing in that price range.

+1 - You will not find a single family home for the price range in this area.

I saw a condo in Winchester for that.

Where do you work? I'm out in Charles Town, work in Reston, and it takes me about an hour to get to work. You get a lot more for your money out in WV. Not only that, but the property taxes are easily less than half of what I was paying in Loudoun county for a town house.

$199,000 to $220,000? It's got to be West Virginia and MAYBE even Winchester area. But I doubt you'll find a single family home for that price. For reference - my 2 bed/2 bath one level condo in Ashburn, if you wanted to buy it, would run you up over $315,000. And that's if I gave you a price break.

I get so depressed any time I think about buying, I work in Alexandria/Springfield, and would like to keep a similar commute to what ArRrR6 said, but finding a 300K home is getting to be ridiculous. I need to win the lotto.

Realistically I just gotta keep saving, and waiting, hoping for the real-estate bubble to burst.
