Not gonna lie I'm thoroughly disappointed. Hopefully they scrap it and start over. The FD was a true work of art but this thing is trash.

I also think the FD was one of the best looking cars ever made, but this is not bad at all. The grill is the only part I would improve on. It's nice to see them moving on from the smiley Nagare design language.

From a technical standpoint, I wonder why they're pouring money into the rotary. The mileage was terrible, the torque in NA form was nonexistant, and the 3rd and 4th generation engines were unreliable as hell. The high-revving nature and small packaging of a rotary engine sound like they'd be great in a sport bike, however.

On the 3rd gen engine, it wasn't the engine that was any less reliable than any other older generation of the rotary engine. Freaking sequential turbos, small intercooler, etc were to blame.

A REW engine on a single turbo setup (granted, you lose some of that boost response/tq from the twin sequential setup), a good ecu that allows the engine to be programmed properly, and you have a solid engine/car.

I am not saying that they will last 250K miles!

The RX-8 is a GREAT platform, but the first generation of the renesis had some issues, plus its lack of HP/TQ. A REW engine on the RX-8 should take care of all issues LOL

I like the RX-Vision concept, the hood seems a tad too long. I wonder if Mazda's plan is to run electric motors, powered by a small rotary engine, at a fixed RPM. The rotary engine can be very efficient (gas comsumption) at static speed. We shall see what they have in mind.

Blown apex seals.

Totally NOT an issue on the Renesis engine. For all prior engines, aftermarket seals bend, instead of cracking, which still requires a rebuild, but at least its a seal only rebuild, and not half of your engine + turbo rebuild LOL

I hope they bring it back but it won't exactly fit Mazda's current lineup of affordable/fuel efficient vehicles if it's anything close to the expectations of the rx7 enthusiasts. It might end up being a disappointment like the rx8 when it came out.

30% of Mazda is owned by Ford.

So then there's that.
