Memo about optional use of turn signals - July 3, 2009, 10:44 AM

I didn't get the memo that obviously went out recently, making the use of turn signals completely optional, especially in cars. I even see the facking Park Police in Rock Creek Park making turns with no signals. WTF? Would someone who did receive the official memo please forward it to me or post it here in the thread? Thanks!

They are optional on some of the newer models, and especially equipped for the eldery.

One of my pet peeves, particularly when you're waiting to turn onto a road and the approaching vehicle, perpendicular to you, doesn't signal and makes the turn in front of you.

that's what my dad says "Oh I forgot the signals were an expensive option on that Lexus" or something like that.

Something I've seen twice recently (the first and second times I've ever noticed it) was somebody slowing down/stopping behind someone waiting to turn left signaling that they're turning left as well. Once the person turning goes, the person behind them stopped signaling and just went straight. The first time I saw it was in WV and a big tanker truck was behind someone turning. I thought I'd have to wait for them to turn too, but it actually helped out since I couldn't see the car in front of them. Otherwise I'd have been wondering why the hell they were stopping in the middle of the road.

Makes sense to me anyway...
