Question Mens Health: Multi Vitamins Any good ? - June 4, 2016, 07:41 PM

Here is my story.
I just plain don't have enough time to eat allot of vegetables. At least not the good ones. I get in corn and peas here and there and way too much starches like Rice and potatoes.

Is there anything legit that can take the place of what I am not getting via real vegetables ?

I do get fiber in via shredded wheat cereal, and lactose & fat free milk.

Anyone in the same situation bachelor life quick food life?

lol.

I had this the other day from Boston Market. It look good and I felt food as if i was eating healthy, but realized, there really isn't anything "Good" health wise on my plate.

I take One a Day Mens Formula every day. I guess they do their trick and they have lots of healthy stuff in them. They seem to keep me from getting sick as often as most people.

Try a small bottle of whatever you get, some of the cheaper stuff like Costco Vitamins taste odd. But it probably depends on the person.

+1 for the One A Day mens health formula. I also take additional B12 and Vitamin D pills. Over the past year, I've definitely felt an increase in my energy and general "well being"

Speaking for myself .... I take a multi v daily and I try to view it as ainsurance policy/backup just in case I don't get all the basics from my daily food ...but generally like to try and get most of my nutrition from real food ...... If your always on the go you may want to look into getting a nutrition bullet .... U can down a nice green shake with some fruit in just a minute ........ Also a great way to make a healthy weight gainer or post workout shake ..... Quick and easy way to intake a bunch of good nutrition and plus it's a easy clean up .... I think they go for 70-100 bucks ..... Just a suggestion ...

There's no real replacement for actual vegetables. Scientists don't even understand all the components, their interactions with one another in whole foods, and their benefits. You've got vitamins, minerals, phytonutrients, fiber, etc. Whether supplements have any value whatsoever is highly contested and the same is true for whether they do more harm than good. If your goal is replacing vegetables/fruits you're not going to do it with any pills. Will taking pills get you some of the benefits? Maybe, maybe not.

This sucks for me as I am terrible about eating anything but meats, dairy, and grains. One of these days I may put some effort into getting at least one serving of fruits/vegetables every day but I'm not doing crap about it right now.

Ive started finding time for veggies. I was bad and considered peas and corn veggies, they arnt, they are starches.

Try this, one scoop in water or in a shake or smoothie, and your veggies are done, a doctor friend of mine hates veggies, and uses this, he is in much better shape than me.

Also, your body can only process soo much at a time, so most of a multi is pissed out. Two tricks to maximize absorption (so Ive been told/read) keep vitamins in the freezer, and take them at night, slower metabolism, and freezing is suppose to slow metabolizing. Again, so Ive been told/read, so its with a grain of salt.

For quick veggies, roast broccoli, cauliflower, onion, green beans, etc in a toaster oven, put em in a ziplock with some olive oil, S/P garlic/onion powder, little spice shake for one second, roast for 8-9 min at 375, adjust for how you like your veggies, I like em with a bite, some like em cooked to death.

A toaster oven makes this super fast, and easy.. use tinfoil for no clean up

Drink your veggies.

Get a juicer.

Go to Costco and stock up on the huge bags of kale, spinach, peppers, carrots, etc.

Throw a little honey and white grape juice in the cup.

dammit.....

no substitution sounds like....

Funny how this thread started off with the one a day and me happy...
then ended with everyone saying...no substitution for real veggies...

I thought the pills were dehydrated veggies...
