What's great is how microsoft had shit to do with this. Hell, MIT grads made a multi-input touchscreen LCD on their own a couple of years ago. Search youtube, you'll find a year old video of people playing Warcraft 3 on a multi-input LCD.

All MS did was put a pretty interface on a technology demo'd years ago.

But what the hell, Microsoft is going to get credit for it anyway.

That particular version was you're talking about evolved into Apple's Multi-touch technology that's out today.

Yep, rip off of that stuff that we saw videos out years ago. Too bad Apple was the first to capitalize on it with the iPhone which hopefully will be out this month..



Also, one question. Without a keyboard, how do you CTRL-ALT-DEL your coffee table when it locks up??

Typical of MS...but is it really so wrong if they've actually perfected or at least improved? New technology tends to come from past innovations.

Take something, make it better. There are entire cultures that live by this.

Just because somebody is the first to create an idea, doesn't mean someone else can't do it better.

My problem isn't with Microsoft, my problem is with the press. They're glorifying Microsoft for an incomplete product and heralding them as innovators. Technically, they haven't done anything yet. That photo management thing in the video, someone else demo'd that with their own multi-input touchscreen atleast a year ago.

The only thing innovative in that video is the systems ability to work with the cell phone, pda, and credit card. But in regards to all three of those, the only thing they've changed is the interface (which in this case is innovative but not revolutionary). The hardware involved shouldn't be attributed to Microsoft (or Apple for that case).

I hear ya, and agree. Unfortunately, its no longer a requirement of the press to report accurately or validate news worthy information...or even release news worthy information. Thats why we know more about Paris Hilton than MIT innovators.

Hard reset rob...

There is only one interrupt for interaction, so I don't imagine how you can do anything but hard reset. Maybe they split another IRQ on a certain field on the screen that would allow some kind of control...
