LMAO! That was hilarious. So many snarky remarks and lines. Love the end - "Next month, IJC will attempt a giant leap for mankind. In a first-of-its-kind effort, IJC will embed a new stovepipe into an already existing stovepipe."

- BTW, he got fired because he didn't clear his remarks through PR. I would have said it was an off the record discussion not to be published or reproduced.

he's a reservist Colonel, yeah, he's got his 20, probably closer to 30, and I doubt he gives a shit. Most of all, he's completely right. The amount of reliance on useless powerpoint briefs in the air force at least is fucking astounding. I wish more officers would do the same. I do my best to avoid powerpoint whenever I brief.

Confusing the issue, since before you were ugly.

As for clearing through PR, what about General McCrystal though? Weren't his statements off the record too?

The Rolling Stone article - which I read and it was very good.

Well, McCrystal was a 4-Star General bitch slapping the President, his staff, the strategy, NATO, and a few foreign dignitaries.

Sorry, there's no way he could wiggle out of that one.

It's one thing to vent about a process - but he took it to a whole other level.

Lmao, if you have spent any time at all near a TOC he is telling the absolute truth. Problem is that when they are lieutenants and captains they are even worse, they call an emergency meeting and say "I have a good idea! pat me on the back!" and then there is a round of group hugging. It is what they do, the officers don't really know or do anything...

Well R6Speed, as a prior-enlisted officer, for the most part I actually agree with you. I would, however, contend that the officer and enlisted sides of the military are basically the same, in that:

-10% are absolutely indispensable--their unit could not function effectively without them.

-80% are just there--by themselves, not capable of doing much more than eating, sleeping and shitting. But under direction and supervision of the first 10%, able to accomplish whatever the unit's mission is.

-10% are ASVAB waivers, drug addicts, general shitheads, who do nothing but get in the way of mission accomplishment.

This was my first squad leader's view of the Marine Corps. Been doing this about 15 years now, and wherever I've gone, I've found the above to be roughly true... for both Os and Es.

It's the same in the civilian mission. Some embassies are better than others.

I think that's just humans in general: 10% of people float the rest... with a fraction of that 10% who are super effective, 80% take up space, the last 10% shit all over everyone.

Dicks, pussies, and assholes.

Thank you for being a prior, we have a Capt who was a Marine Sargent (and ex comedian!). He is the only one who really "gets shit with the troops" and takes a genuine interest in his work.

Most of the guys from the academies who come right out of high school are flat out clueless about life and priorities in general.

This topic makes me think of Terminal Lance......

Where did it got wrong....

"During that time, I have not done anything productive. "

Seems like it's just the effect of an officer gone tired of war...and did you really ask if he had his 20 years?????

HE iS A COL.....I don't know many who are at or beyond 20.

What do you value more? Life or Image?

"I don't ride, I usually just sit around wearing a tshirt and my icon back protector and talk shit about anyone who does not have a liter bike. That's how you can pick me out of a crowd. I also wear a red tophat."

Ha ha! Been there, done that. Life at a major command is a series of daily briefings that you have to work around to get anything done. Luckily, I always had stand-ins to handle this crap.

He's definitely got more than 20 years. This may have been his final OER support form.
