Exclamation Missing Father, Two Kids Spotted Near Deep Creek Lake - June 19, 2007, 02:02 AM

OLNEY, MD - Detectives from the Montgomery County Police are seeking the public's help in locating two children who are believed to be with their father who has threatened to harm himself and the children, and were later spotted in Garrett County.

Montgomery County Police tell NBC25 they have confirmed a tip that the three were spotted near Deep Creek Lake on Sunday.

Detectives responded to a relative's home in the 18700 block of Olney Mill Road in Olney, at approximately 5:15 Monday morning for the report of a missing person. It was learned that the missing man, 43-year-old Navid Eghterafi Nanaf Abadi of Germantown, is divorced but has joint custody of his children, 10-year-old Juliette and 8-year-old Anis Eghterafi.

He told family members that he was going to Ocean City and threatened to kill himself and the children. At this time their whereabouts are unknown, and police say there is no evidence indicating he ever took the children to Ocean City at all.

Eghterafi is driving a silver 1998 Honda CRV with Maryland tags 427-M597.

Anyone who has any information about the whereabouts of the father and two children should call 911 or the 5th district investigative section at (301) 840-2347.

An alert (not an Amber Alert) has been issued by Maryland State Police.
