Cool More Apple Iphone rumours ... - April 29, 2008, 10:30 PM

Apple and AT&T will cut $200 off the price of the iPhone 3G when it arrives this summer. The phones should hit at $399 and $499 for 8 and 16-gigabyte versions and the subsidy should drop the price to as low as $199.
definitely ready to get one

I'm sure for new subscribers, not for those original iphone owners who locked into a 2 year contract already.

If that's the case, once again well done pissing on the early adopters of the phone.

When I bought the iphone...there wasn't a contract. I mean, there was an existing one with my old phone (and the time for being able to renew contract and get cheap phone didn't "reset" to 2yrs from when I bought the iphone).

I think what this means is I should be able (if my original 2yr "upgrade" time has arrived) to be able to take advantage of the subsidy.

Does this mean I should be able to sell my 8gb iphone for say...$150 bucks, and then only pay $300 for the new one? 150 for that kind of upgrade sounds nice...hell even if I could get 200 for mine, 300 to upgrade to 3g and double memory sounds good.

Subscribers to what? AT&T?
I've been considering very strongly getting the iphone and am up to renew my contract with AT&T (I've had them forever). I'm waiting until June to see what options they have. This does seem too good to be true, the iphone is popular enough that it doesn't need discounts to sell.

How about starting a rumor that Verizon will get off their greedy asses and get access to that phone. If apple really wanted to take over the world...that is what they need to do.
