First time I saw this was through a vid file that got circulated amongst a bunch of broadcast engineers. It was in full resolution and on a HD display. I had to look away at times.

I've climbed my share of antennas... never one that tall though. Did one out to sea once... that was sketchy as fuck. I didn't move an inch without clipping on.

Good boots and good gloves are gold. Test your own equipment/ harness.

The fuck is that .gif? What was he doing up there? Looks like an intentional suicide. No harness, no tool bag..

Deal with these a lot at work.
I think it'd be pretty fun for the smaller ones, say less than 100 feet.

But the big ones? Fuck that. They start to have huge sway distances at the top. Nothing like being 300+ feet in the air and swaying 40 feet back and forth!

Noooooo Way could I do that climb. Either they have big brass ones or are desperate for the money. Hats off either way.

Oh hell no. We contract tower crews for that shyt. Our guys keep their butts on the ground.

The only way you could get me to climb one of those tall towers is if you put put a $10,000 dollar check with my name on it at the top.

... and even then I'd just offer some crazy kid $100.00 to go get it.

Suck - my - dick.

An even worse job in my opinion, the guys who have to high power transmission lines. They have to get helicoptered onto their towers and essentially jump from the helo to the tower after they ground themselves with a rod.

It's all too easy for a gust to send the chopper into the wires or for the grounding rod to touch the chopper and blow out all the helo electricals.
