Moto toy for 2 year old - June 26, 2012, 07:09 PM

My nephew is turning two soon. He really likes my bikes, his parents don't ride. I don't have kids so I struggle with gift ideas for the younger ones. Any suggestions for a gift for him?

Get what you think the parents will like, not what you think the kid will like.

At 2 years old, the kid will be just as fascinated by the box and packing paper as by the toy.

Also, 10 cheap toys >>>> 1 expensive toy. It's all about novelty, textures, sounds, etc.

KTM strider if you don't mind throwing cash for a name, one of those cheap wallyworld rideons if you do.

Fuck what the parents think, you're his uncle. It's your job to give questionable gifts that the parents secretly hate.

Good suggestions so far.

I know that I need to give him the cool stuff that his mom won't allow, I just don't know where to start with kid stuff.

You're generally ok so long as it doesn't burn, explode, or cut.

I've given my nephew, 2 also, one of these since I had two Road Rippers Yamaha Motorcycle Toy with lights and sound | eBay
and a Maisto scale model.

Yesterday was really funny when I saw him. When I was leaving my mom's she brought him out so he could see my bike and me leaving. Far from the first time he's seen my bikes. Right now he still doesn't speak a lot unless you ask him questions. But this time he let out the funniest "Niiiice" when he was looking at my CBR. We didn't even know he knew that word.

And you want him to get something with KTM on it?

I just bought a KTM Strider for 85 bucks shipped off ebay. Get one the kid will love it.

Is the pad on the Strider bars the same size as on a full size BMX? I can't find that info on the site.

This. Make sure the toy takes batteries, makes lots of noise, requires assembly, and has lots of small parts (after the kid turns 3). Your goal is to make the parents hate you and the kid squeal with joy.

I'd go with a Strider; best long gift EVER!!! Much more long term use than the Step2 Motorcycle .
