Just standing on my soap box this morning……

So over the past couple of days I have heard several reports on the radio about an incident at Potomac Mills Movie Theatre. I tried looking for an actual article but couldn’t seem to find one. The basis of the incident was on Saturday at a viewing of Lord Of The Rings a fight broke out. Of course the theatre was packed and apparently within 15 minutes of the movie starting a group of kids had not quieted down. A woman went to inform a theatre employee of the ruckus. Apparently the warning the kids received from the theatre employee had no effect. The woman’s husband “shushed” them leading to him being placed into a headlock and beating.

Like I said I could not find an actual article and I heard this on 2 different radio stations in the past 2 days. I am sure there is more to it.

Now let me bitch for a moment. One of my biggest pet peeves is loud inconsiderate people in a movie theatre. My closest friends know that I will not go to a movie on opening night or on a weekend (maybe if it is a comedy). I won’t even go to a movie with someone that I know that likes to talk through/about movies while watching. Save that for home.

Potomac Mills is notorious for their “mall rats” and personally I think that the theatre needs to get a stronger backbone when telling people to quiet down. I work hard for my money and my ticket fee is not paid to listen to some young ass boy trying to run weak game on a teenage slut playing hard to get.

Ok I’m done.

I was watching the Fast and the Furious on opening night in Winchester. The place was packed with wanna be street racers, which I expected. But directly behind me must have been the only redneck couple in the theater.

The guy was wasted, saying things like "a camaro could blow the doors of some shitty civic." Fuck the comments, it was the talking that bugged the shit out of me. So my friend Brian turned his head a couple of times to no effect. Then he said "do you mind?" to him and he just kept on and on. So I started turning around and I said "Can you please be quiet?" with maybe a hint of pissed-offedness.

All I heard was "...bald muther fvcker.." and I about jumped out of my seat. The bullshit straight flowed from this redneck mouth with his wife telling him to shut up. Brian and I just waited for a flick in the head so we could turn around and slam a few of his empty beer cans into his pie hole. Did I mention Brian weighs about 300 lbs?

All the sudden we se a hand come up between us and tap me on the shoulder. I think a feather could have set us off we were so tense. Neither of us had ever really been in a fight before but tonight, backed up with about 200 "street racers", seemed like a good of a night as any.

I turned my head and he leaned forward to appologize for talking. That was all. With the instant adrenaline dump I suddenly had to pee very badly. We gave him a smart ass sort of "Ok" and turned back around without further problems.

So not only was this jackass talking, but he was drinking beer and causing tempers to flare. Not to mention the sound was probably horrible in the theater. I blame the theater for most bad experiences. How could they let a guy bring beer into the theater unchecked? And whatever happened to the occasional usher walking down the isles. Not that that would make a huge difference....

There's my story. Peace!

I agree.

I am def one of those people that will ask someone to be quite. I will be polite, at first.

The worst experience at a movie for me was when I was about 17-18. My Mom (who is obese) and I went to a movie (cannot remember what it was), the theatre was packed. Three boys about my age sat down behind us right when the previews started. Without whispering boy #1 said "can you see?" boy #2 response "fuck no, I have this fat thing in front of me". I looked over at my Mom and I could see the tears welling up in her eyes. I lost it! I stood up, said "what the fuck did you just say" and the little bastard just smiled at me. So I jumpped over my chair and mid-air punched him in the face. The gentlemen sitting next to my seat pulled me off of him. The boy nor his friends did nothing. When the guy pulled me back I saw I had given the boy a bloody nose. Then I just sat back down, the boys left immediately, and my Mom just patted me on my leg. I refused to leave and waited the whole movie for a police escort Nothing came of it.

Wow - I cant stand people who talk in movie theaters. ANd I am one of those people who wont go opening day either. There have been certain exceptions though. I have jumped up a couple of times but people PLEASE BE CAREFUL. ANd about sneaking beer into the theater? You know as well as I how easy it is to sneak something into the theater. Especially during the winter. So, what else can someone sneak in!

Please be careful. And always remember - Its not the bigl ones you have to worry about. Its the small ones who think they are big or have something to prove.

But to play Devils advocate - Im an adult now. My record's been expunged. I can stand a couple of charges....

I love people that show up 5 minutes late for a movie and ask everyone to scoot over a seat so they can sit together or something.

i do not know why that really annoys me but it does. I must be a jerk.

Back in the day... when you went to the movies you went to see a movie.

Seriously though, I would have punched him too boom.

I went to see the second Matirx movie on opening night. The people behind us were totally rude. Kicking our seats, throwing popcorn at my friends wife. She politely asked them to stop, even though she doesn't take to that stuff well... she so wanted to kick some a$$. The one girl is all hootchied up in a tank top and a miniskirt barely convering her tali-hoohoo, complaining every five minutes she's cold. Then the guy she's with is trying to get on her the whole movie, and he's the first one complaining outside how the movie sucked, there were too much martial arts and not enough guns. HOW DO YOU KNOW??? YOU WERE TRYING TO GET YOUR GROOVE ON FOR 3/4 OF THE MOVIE!!!
