AUSTIN, Texas (AP) -- A 14-year-old girl who says she was sexually assaulted by another user of MySpace.com sued the social networking Web site Monday, claiming it does not take sufficient steps to protect underage members.
The girl says a 19-year-old man lied in his profile about being a senior on a football team to gain her trust and phone number.
Pete Solis was arrested in May on a charge of sexual assault of a child. He could not immediately be reached Monday evening.
The suit alleges that MySpace has "absolutely no meaningful protections or security measures to protect underage users."
"(MySpace) has got to take this seriously," said attorney Carl Barry, who is representing the girl and her mother. The suit seeks $30 million.
In a statement, MySpace said it is committed to the safety of its members.
"We take aggressive measures to protect our members," said Hemanshu Nigam, chief security officer. "Ultimately, Internet safety is a shared responsibility. We encourage everyone on the Internet to engage in smart Web practices and have open family dialogue about how to apply offline lessons in the online world."

She should sue the intraweb too since they provided the means for communication between the two parties.

And sue Al Gore for inventing it.

Im going to be such an ASS of a parent some day. You better believe I will have GPS tracking hidden on all his/her shit. Record every keystroke/click on the pc and channel lockouts on the TV...

I will be at every teach/parent conference. I will be watching the online grades every day. The i dont give a fuck about my kids is getting really old.

I say instead of bitching and moaning about the economy, corrupt government, stupid drivers etc. Instead focus all your energy into raising a kid with an education, help with common sense and understand how to act around other people. Eventually that has got to make its way into the public and make a difference..

ok sorry.
If not, ill die trying since this seems to be my best contribution at improving the world.

They just had some news report that 30% of the high school seniors this year in the USA will not graduate because they dropped out or failed. 30%!!?? I don't know how accurate their numbers are, but damn, thats just pathetic.

I think I should sue the person who invented html code. Web pages like this keep me distracted at work. We should all go back to writing letters.
