Which NAV unit do I go with? - May 11, 2009, 01:21 PM

I'm getting a new NAV unit put in my Tundra and they gave me the following two options:

Pioneer AVIC-D3 6.1

or

Eclipse AVN 62D

Anyone have any experience with these two?

I wanted one that plays DVD's and will work with my backup camera.

I have the D3 and can vouch, it's pretty badass. How much are you paying to have this installed...? I did mine in a day, it isn't bad...

Also, how much are you looking at for the unit and from where?

I'm leaning more towars the pioneer as I like the features but the DVD map is not a positive point in my book. Was hoping to find one that I could update via usb not DVD. If I get the Pioneer I will have to get a CD changer so that I don't have to keep taking out the DVD map.

I got the unit and installation for under $900 through Toyota and they are including an IPOD cable.

Are there any other units out there that are better than these two?

Just rip your cd's and load them into itunes and use your ipod. Problems solved...

CD's are a major PITA anyways. That's not a bad deal, if it included the bluetooth with it. The install truly is not that complex...
