Need Advice: Winter Car Tire Selection - February 16, 2010, 03:39 PM

I want to save the summer tires from any more winter abuse and need some advice on what dedicated snow tire to get. I am thinking a sporty snow tire would be the best choice for this area. I need a 235/40/18.

I have been reading about the following tires:

Blizzak WS60
SP Winter Sport 3D
Winter 240 SnowSport

What are you guys running?

Does anyone have a recommendation of where to go locally? Tire rack has these tires for like $50+ less each tire than what I have found calling around locally. Do you know of anyone that will match Tirerack around the area?

Thanks in advance....

I have thes on my car right now and love them!!

I can do 4 of these mounted and balanced w/ alignment for $854.40 OTD

Just a heads up ... tire rack is going to charge you per tire for shipping.

God Speed Jeff! You'll never be forgotten.

When I had my 240SX, I used to run a set of Blizzaks. Whereas having 4WD was like +5 on traction, these were like +1.5.

They definitely made a difference in the snow but mostly on initial traction and bite off acceleration. Wheel spin and sliding were still a bit of a concern - but they faired much better all-season tires.
