Need Help Building Pedometer Shaker...Yes that is what I said - February 25, 2013, 06:19 AM

So we have these Virgin Health Miles pedometers that we are required to wear this year to get money for our heath fund. Problem is the damn thing is not allowed in our customer building where I work.

I basically need to average 7K steps a day but cannot do it when I get off at 5pm.

So I am trying to figure out how to build a little shaker(YEP..thats right, faking the system. Company did not care about us who work at other facilities before requiring this trash to get health fund money so I am doing what I got to do).

I believe I just need a small straight rod. Attach something like a GoPro case onto it and then find something(motor) that I can making go up and down.

I may have to go to a RC store or something to see what I can find.

Any Ideas??

That's only like 3 miles so the obvious response is stop being a lazy bastard and go for a walk. If you insist on gaming the system, stick it on a dog.

I am extremely far from lazy. I run 3 or 4 days a week at our company gym which is where I cannot have the damn thing. So when I get home at 6pm, I am not going to log 7K steps from 6 to 10pm in my house.

Wrap in bubble wrap, put in empty paint can, go to ACE and have your friendly Helpful Hardware Man put it in a paint shaker for 5 mins....you'll be good for the month.....

Or......sit on sofa eating Cheetos with one hand and shaking pedometer with other while watching NCIS reruns.....

Why can't you just tell somebody that?

If you want to build something, I'd go with something akin to a camshaft and rocker arm. So basically you need an oblong shape on a powered spinning shaft and something spring loaded to press against it.

You can't have a pedometer at your gym? Why?

We already have....I mean we have sent it all the way up the chain. Tried to white list it and everything.

So your health insurance provided by your company gives you a pedometer to wear in order to benefit monitarily, and your company doesn't permit you to bring it to your job

Find a new job. Nanny fucking horseshit on one side, idiotic pedometer prohibition on the other. Retards all around

For sure... pissing all of us off here in the building. For some reason the customer feels it is some magic device that since it has a usb and plugs in to register your steps on the site, that is can/will store their private data. Ridiculous
