Need help determining U-joint for Dodge Dakota - July 21, 2010, 06:50 PM

It's the U-Joint that connects the drive shaft to the rear diff.

The part that shows up in the system at Advance Auto is not the correct part. All the bearing cups are the same size. On my U-joint two of the cups are smaller.

Looking up the manufacturer of the old one (GMB), their application chart shows the part also being used on a bunch of common Ford and Chevys. The part numbers for these at Advance are the same but differ from the Dakota parts.

Can someone confirm that the U-joint I'm looking for is the same as the one used on Ford and Chevys?

Pretty sure the dodge number is 5016382AA. I will call the old man tomorrow if you don't get a definitive answer by then.

i just changed one of the u-joints on my 04 4x2 ford ranger, i got the ujoint at auto zone, and the way it came 2 of the caps were small and two of them were big, i needed 4 small ones, so it could be the case that they are close enough to the same to work
