Arrow Need a lead on a new place to live! - June 22, 2011, 04:02 PM

So the time is right. Paid off my truck, got a nice raise, now I need a nice pad. Problem is, I'm terrible at trying to find places. So I'm calling upon the cumalitive talent of dcsb.n to help me out!

I can commit to a grand a month, maybe a little more if need be.

Requirements:
Attached/Detached garage
Place to park my truck
post 2000 structure (not a deal breaker)
close to dunn loring metro station

aaaaand go!

Yep. A grand with those requirements in that area is nigh impossible

Your expectations are not in line with your budget.
Lower one or raise the other, but right now you're not getting both on your own.

“Any man who tries to be good all the time is bound to come to ruin among the great number who are not good. Hence a Prince who wants to keep his authority must learn how not to be good, and use that knowledge, or refrain from using it, as necessity requires”.

good luck with those requirements. 2 grand a month might be more realistic if you want all those amenities.

Next... R1

09' CBR 600RR (sold)
08' GSXR 750 (sold)

Maybe I will stop next time.

I think you would have a better chance in the Vienna metro area especially if you want the garage.

Ashburn or Sterling might be an option for that price line.

no sir. i went through this in Feb of this year. sorry to tell you this, but its also the WRONG time of year to look. the apartments usually jack their rates this time of the year.

Ashburn we found apartments with garages from $1300... they are higher now.

Sterling was $1400 a month.

Fairfax (as close as you'll get to vienna and where i live) is at least $1500 attached or $1350 plus $150 for a detatched garage. a couple of the places in fairfax want $1700+.

all prices above were searching for a 1 bedroom as well. some of the internet prices will be lower, but when you go talk to them, they will go up due to "demand."

renting a room in a house sucks... shared garage space sucks...

All of this makes me so glad that I live in DC in the happening spot...90 seconds from the subway...20 minute subway ride or quick 15 minute drive to work.
