Let's see if .net can predict the winner.

Well a poll seemed logical rather than following a post with a lot of different answers.

I voted No on Question 7. For one, I do not believe that the primary beneficiaries of a gambling expansion in Maryland are school children. Not only do I not believe the dollars will go to the schools and teachers, I do not believe that the removal of those dollars from the pockets of gamblers is in the interest of our children, regardless of what the schools are doing. In line with this, I do not buy the argument that all gamblers go to WV or NJ or DE to gamble. I think some are opportunistic, are latent, and do not gamble now because of the effort it would take.

Secondly, I'm just flat out against gambling so it's an easy decision and needs no explanation.

The purpose is not to inflame the topic but isn't limiting the business of casinos an intrusion of government on capitalism and job creation? Essentially, an antithesis to Republican principles?

I personally have never been against casinos, even though I am against gambling. But...I'm against gambling for ME and I have no opinion on what whether other people choose to gamble or not. Additionally, gambling at a casino is essentially no different than investing in the stock market. For there to be a winner there has to be a loser. Plus the value of the stock is not directly related to the value of the company itself, it is related to speculation of the company's odds of success. Basically, the same exact principle as gambling....speculation of odds. Those that educate themselves on beating those odds win and those that don't lose. Same system.

Either way, I'm not a fan of defining whether casinos are good or bad, except for when it is based on other community factors such as neighborhood and economic appeal and/or where traffic or skyline/scenery would be adversely affected.

Whoever told you the republican party is against government intrusion lied to you..

They're all about intrusion when it fits their ends.
